CALF CLUB DAY The annual Call' Club day was hold at the Waimana School recently. Heavy rain fell i»n the early afternoon and evidently stopped a number of visitors f 1- o m although there was quite a good gathering of interested parents and friends. The calves were ably judged by j\lr T. W. \Yardlaw_ assisted by members, of > the Y.F.C.' At the conclusion of the judging a much enjoyed afternoon tea was served by mothers and friends. Mr Wardlaw spoke to the children for a few minutes on selecting a calf, the feeding and handling of it for calf club competition. and hoped that in future they would enter more, calves for competition. During the proceedings the two .silver cups, donated by Mr L. Ducker and Mr N. Eagle _ were presented to the 'winners as follows: Senior class, Lionel Ragle's "Goldie" and Junior class. Rex Ragle's "Joy Girl." The, results of the judging were as follows:— Seniors: Best dairy type Delmae Martin's 'Queenie' 1; Lola Savage's 'Bess' 2; Karl Eagle's 'Buttercup' 3: Barry Stevenson 4. Junior: Best dairy type John Boynton's 'Superior' 1; John Roger's 'Brenda' 2; Norman Boynton's 'Bess' 3. Highly commended: Rex Eagle's. 'Joy Girl', Richard Henderson's 'Nuku.' Best reared and handled calf: Senior Lionel Ragle's 'Goldie' L Junifor Rex Eagle's 'Joy Girl' 1. Best home-made halter: John Boynton 1; Earl Ragle 2. Best home-made cover: Lola savage 1; Cini Boynton 2; John Boynton 3.
