LAST WEEK'S COMPETITION

BEST ENDINGS Now for last week's competition. I received a whole swag ol' last lines in answer to this competition and some of them were real beauts. It took me. most of the night, to sort out the winning ones and by the time I'd finished I had cleaned up half a gallon of milk and fifteen dog biscuits. WTell ; the following I think were, the four best ones that I received: — I saw a big fat bowler Standing on the lawn And when I asked him how to p!ay ? He looked at me with scorn. "My little man," said he with pride "You'll have to grow much bigger ? And if you want to play good bowls Doreen Hug-hes: "You'll have to develop your figure." < Esther Barker: "You'll to enlarge your figure." Catherine Wardlaw: "You must improve your figure." Ngaire Elliot: "Us>e all your vim and vigour." Somehow it seemed as if you couldn't get away from the word •figure' as most of the lines ended with that word. tho-o are the "winners so collect your tickets from the Beacon Office with my. best compliments. P.T.W.
