MANAWAHE ROADS
QUESTION OF EXPENDITURE FARMERS' UNi;ON ENQUIRY Following their recent enquiry regarding the amount of money expended in the Manawahe riding the local branch of the Farmers' Union have forwarded the following resolutions. to tlie Whakatane County Council:—■ 1. That judging by the amount of money expended in this district and the. results obtained therefrom, that there must have been a lack of adequate, .supervision. 2. That in respect to revaluation we quite naturally expect to take our turn with the rest of the county. 3. That we wholeheartedly support the Union's light for total derating and we deplore the. attitude of the majority of the Councillors in their neglect to support the. Monganui Council's example (as reported in the local paper). 1. This being the principal stock route between Eastern Bay of Plenty and the AVaikato much damage, is attributed to same. Cr Burt said lie did not think much could be done about improving the position until the revaluation of the County. There was a very limited amount of revenue available for work in the. riding at the present time. The Engineer added that lliost of the money expended in the Manawahe area had been for road metal.
