"HE'S NOT POULTRY" RULED OUT BY ENGLISH COURT London. An English court of law lias ruled that a cockerel is not "poultry" within the meaning of a Ministry of Food 10rder and the Ministry thereby lias lost an important case. The decision -was made when a domestic poultry-keeper appeared 011 a charge of selling eggs to an unrcgis tered customer. She kept 25 hens and four cockerels; and the order alleged to have been breached provides that such a sale may take, place lawfully 011I3' when "not more than 27> head of poultry" are kept and '"that, the •? eggs are the product of such poultry," SJ11: contended that cockerels were not '"poultry" within the. meaning of tile order. It was argued for her that a person who kept one lien and 25 cockerels could not sell an egg to an unregistered customer while a person who had 21. hens and one cockerel could. The however, ruled that "head of poultry" means laying hens and dismissed the summons. From this legal decision if is clear that a cockerel is in a class by hi nisei J", so far undesignated by the. Ministry of Food. Then under what category is he to be placed?
