WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB The club's operations i'or the season 1911 Avere brought to a close on Saturday, November 18. In spite of a A r ery severe, hail slorm which interfered Avitli play for about half an hour a A'ery enjoyable afternoon Avas .spent. A mixed Canadian Foursome was played over 9 holes the Avinncrs of this event being Mrs Mussctl and A. Powdreil 42 —(P/2 —35 the run-ncrs-up being Mrs- Eggers and S. Spence. 49—10%38 —. After a A'ery nice afternoon tea provided by the ladies, the long driving and the approach and putting competitions Avere held. The Avinner of. the long drive was J. Council and the approach and putt Avas won by C. A. Suckling. Prize-giving At the conclusion or the above events the President Mr L. In expressing his appreciation of the Avilling services always given by the ladies in all functions of the club the president voiced the unanimous opinion of all members. On opening day, inter-club matches, tournaments, closing day t or on any social occasion at the links the ladies could always be depended upon to cater for the needs of the men in luncheons and afternoon teas Avhieh in these days of rationing made their task so very difficult. In concluding the function the president thanked all those members AA'ho in spite, of troublous times had helped to maintain the club's operations throughout one of the most successful seasons vet held.
