BLIND SERVICEMENS' FUND

SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION HELD

GOOD CROWD ATTENDS

A good crowd comfortably filled the Caledonian Hall on Saturday evening when a fair section of the dancing public turned up to support the Blind Servicemens' Fund. Run by the committee, that so successfully handled the dance in aid or the Leper Fund Saturday evening proved to be a night of first class entertainment and any further functions of that' nature, held may be sure of a good measure, of support. The Premier Dance Band supplied perfect music for the occasion whilst Mr Bill Howat was entirely successful as M.C. Towards the close, of the evening, a light supper was served which came as a very welcome refresher to thirsty couples. One of most popular of novelty dances held was the Lucky and Unlucky Spot Waltz. When the music stopped, those couples, who chanced to be beneath the electric lights donated a shilling to the fund, and at the, same, time became eligible for the Lucky prize. All remaining couples, were cleared from the floor, the 'Unlucky' ones alone completing the dance. „ A further attrajtion was the. fact the winners of a number of competitions were decided in between dance! The results of. these were, as follows: — 10/- competitions: F. Malmanche, R. West and J. Jones (2). Cake: J. Graham. Brace of Drakes: B. Sullivan. Novelty dances were, won as under:—Monte. Carlo: Miss Tong and partner. Lucky Spot: Milss M. Howat and Mr B. Webby. Dancing concluded at midnight, the Blind Servicemens' Fund having benefited by quite a substantial figure.
