The visit of the Minister of Lands I and Rehabilitation (Hon. F. C. Skinner) to the district yesterdayprovided a busy interlude for local bodies. The Minister visited the Plains yesterday morning and passed on to Galatea where he investigated the possibilities .of settling part of, this inland plain with re-< turned soldier settlers. He was accompanied by members of the Whakatane County Council and the local R.S.A. who emphasised the remarkable prospect of Galatea as a potential settlement. On" Wednesday evening the Minister met local membexs of the Labour Party.
