Rangiora Borough Council was received by the Whakatane Borough Council last Monday evening, setting out information which the. writer had collected from a Dominion review on the question, of Municipal Housing. It was stated that of the 302, 000 houses in the Dominion only 700 had been built by Borough authorities 400 of which had been built by ' Christchurch and Dunedin Councils aloneOnly 12 Boroughs of 121 in New Zealand had handled the position at and. the. consensus of opinion was t as one Town Clerk had put it: "If a Borough was looking for trouble—it had but to start a housing

scheme." Maori Concert The attention of readers is drawn to an advertisement on the front page of this, issue concerning a Grand Maori' Concert which ist to be held this evening in the Winter* Show Buildings. The concert is being staged! by the Ngati JVfanawa Entertainers and promises to be something of a treat by way of Maori items which have such a popular following in this town. Included in the features to be presented are Native war dances poi dances > action songs, hakas and Maori songsi. The concert promlisesj to be one of the best of its type that has been staged! for some time in the district and the public can be sure of a good night's entertainment. A dance will also be held at the conclusion of the items.

Free Water Connection Reporting to the Whakatane Borough Council at its last meeting on Monday evening on the application of the United Cricket Club for a free, water connection to the pavilion at the Whakatane Domain, the Fore-man-Engineer } Mr W. S. Henderson estimated the cost at approximately £12. 4.00' of mains would be. necessary to give a connection from Goulstone Road while the alternative supply from the, High School would not be satisfactory % as this supply is metered.
