MATERNITY ANNEXE
INCREASE IN STAFF DEMANDED BOARD ASKS WHY '? I In a communication to the Whakatanc Hospital Board last Tliursday t the Nurses and Midwives Registration Board urged that, a refrigerator be installed in the local maternity annexe and further in view of the increasing number of patients that the staff be built up by the services of an additional sister and two further trainees. The secretary (Mr A. Bridger) said lie was at a loss to understand the second as he had taken out figures over the past four years which showed that there had been no actual increase. The position had been almost, stationary 4 with a slight drop over the present year. Dr. Dawson pointed out that the letter was probably the outcome of the recent visit of Miss Lambic who had inspected the institution. The Board decided to Avrite back pointing out that, as there had been no substantial increase in the number of patients at the annexe it would like to learn the reasons behind the request for increasing the staff. Steps> will be taken immediately to obtain prices; for the purchase and installation of a refrigerator. The Board also notified that the Whakatanc Hospital had been graded as a 'B' grade training centre for nursing. The Mr Buddie, observed that the sooner it was possible for Whakatanc to build up its facilities to 'A' grade standard j the better.
