W.E.A.
EFFECT OF ADVERTISING
A •well attended meeting of the above was held recently in the Borough Council Chambers. The discussion was mainly concerned with modern methods of advertising and their effects on the public. An analysis of several advertisements %vas made and members participating concluded that the general appeal of such advertisements was of a very low standard. If modern methods are the result of the practical application of the findings of psychologists, then the general standard of intelligence is very low indeed . As at the previous meetings > the discussion was ably led by Mr J. Ditchfield, who asked the leading question; "Do we know what, we want,'' around which much of the discussion ranged. That question is of great importance today and bears Repeating "Do we know what we want."
