SUPER-FUEL PRODUCED FOR SUPER-FORTRESSES
The Petroleum Industry War Council has disclosed that American refineries are ready to produce a new aviation super-fuel so much more powerful than the present high octane gasoline that it will permit the maximum bombing of Japan "on a suburban service schedule." The council said the new superfuel now standard for the 829 SuperFortresses is of a higher octane count than the gasoline used 'in bombers over Europe. Eighty per cent of the United States aviation gasoline, production capacity ■ was prepared to produce -the new fuel with onlj' minor modifications x*e quired to equipment. William R. Boyd, jiim., the council chairman said the product i> designed "to draw from the lcthai 829's > the futuristic 832 bombers . . the maximum in sustained speed short combat radius and load-carrying capacities.'' The council called the fuel potential knock-out gasoline for the Japanese."
