INSTITUTE MEETING

INTERNATIONAL DAY

The November meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou Women's Institute was held last. Wednesday afternoon in the. Waimana Hall. There was a very good attendance of members and several visitors. Mrs- Wylde presided and the meeting opened with members standing in silence for two minutes in respect to a member Avho has suffered the sad loss of her husband. The singing of Comrades and Friends followed, and the minutes were read by Mrs- Wardlaw. A most interesting and full report of the Bi-annual Council meeting was given by Mrs N. Cooper. Members of the Gardening Circle, have undertaken to arrange flowers in the Talent Rose Bowl for each meeting. Mrs Gallagher demonstrated and explained the box on interior home decorations from 'Massey College, the making of loose and cushions being included.

A letter was read by Mrs Stansbury from the link, England and was full of interest. Members of the Drama Circle presented the play "Such is Fame" and was well received and enjpyed by all present. The roll call was Books for the. Hospital, which was well responded to.

The day's competitions were:— Best double flower: Mrs I. Savage 1; Mrs Stevenson 2; Mrs Hewitt 3. Best single flower: Mrs King 1; Mrs Savage 2; Mrs Hewitt 3. Best vegetable: Mrs F. Bell 1; Mrs N. Clark 2; Mrs Hewitt 3. Lemon meringue pie: Mirs I. Savage 1; Mrs Hewitt 2; Mrs F. Bell 3. Emblem flag on small box lid: Mrs Hewitt 1; Mrs Woolfield 2; Mrs Wylde 3.

It being International Day } anthems of a number of countries were

played by Mrs King. A delightful afternoon tea was served by the hostesses for the dav and a vote of * 9 thanks was extended to them and all who had assisted in the afternoon's programme, which was greatly enjoyed. The singing of the National Anthem closed the meeting.
