LADIES' GOLF TOURNAMENT On Sunday October 29, the Whakatane Ladies' Golf Club held a one-day tournament. Bad weather again appeared which affected both the standard of play and the number of entries. Visitors came from Opotiki and altogether some 30 players braved rain, and although got thoroughly soaked both morning and afternoon seemed to enjoy the outing. The highlight of the day w 7 as due to Miss-King's outstanding performance. Pam lioled-in-one, at the 16th a brilliant achievement for a junior player. Prize winners were:— Best Gross Score: Miss Black 97. Best Net Score: Miss Kent 103, 26, 77. Morning Medal Round: 'A' Mrs Thomas 99 19, 80; 'B' Mrs Eggers 115, 31 5 S4; 'C' Miss Winstone 118. Afternoon Stableford®Bogey Competition: 'A' Miss Bousfield 19; 'B' Miss Carter 6; 'C' Miss King. Before presenting the trophies Mrs Winstone on behalf of the President thanked the visitors for their patronage and hoped that pleasanter conditions would be experienced on
their next visit, to our links. Thanks were also expressed to Mr Rang! who organised the matches: cheeked and marked the cards, and to the men's committee who so capably attended to the kitchen work and the preparation of irreals. Appreciation must also be extended to Mr Stubbs and the greenkeeper, Mr Fennell who were responsible for the. excellent condition of. the. links.
