SCOUT ACTIVITIES

DISTRICT CAMP PLANNED

NEW YEAR AT ROTOMA Scouits from all troops in the Bay of Plenty will be invited 1 to participate in the annual district camp to be held at Lake Rotoma from January 27th to February 4th ? 1945. The camp willl be held, as in the past on the sandspit adjoining the lagoon and arrangements are already in hand for accommodation. The scouting movement in the Bay has made great strides during the past few years and there is every prospect of a permanent camp being made over to the association in the vicinity of the camp above mentioned. The New Year -camp will be under the control ol S.M.S C. F. Thomas (Whakatane Scottish) and Te H. Ferguson (Whakatane Citizens') assisted by various officers from the other troops. The boys will be accommodated under canvas with the possibility of one or two army huts for administrative and commissariat.

This evening a group of scouts and their officers wi'l be attending the annual meeting of the Opotiki troop where a social programme will be, given by members of, the Wha'katane Junnor Pipe Band and boys from the Citizens' Troop. It is hoped also to> take a similar group through to Te Puke on December 1 when that troop will be holding its- annual meeting.
