DE RATING CAMPAIGN
DEVELOPMENT AT MANGONUI
The action of the Mangonui County Council in deciding to suspend the. payment of levies of hospital rates in its district received brief mention at the monthly meeting of the Auckland Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union at its monthly meeting on October 18. The President (Capl. 11. M. Rushworth) read the Auckland Star report of the meeting of the Mangonui County Council of that day. The feature of the, report was the notification by the Minister oi linance that the subsidies due to the Council had been diverted to the Mangonui Hospital Board. The decision of the County Council to cease to undertake responsibility lor main highway maintenance was. also ex plat nod < On the motion of Mr J. 11. 1-urii-iss (vice-president) the Executive passed the following resolution — "That this Provincial Executive desires to express its admiration to the Mangonui County Council on its stand and also expresses its thanks to Messrs Rusliworth and Sexton for their help and advicc, and further that the president write to individual members of the County Council." Mr N. J. B. Dougherty (Ohura) reported that the campaign was progressing favourably in his and adjacent. districts. The Waikato Sub. Provincial Executive reported that it had appointed a committee representing Coun ty Councils to collect evidence ;nd to collaborate with the Auckland de-rating committee. j
