HEALTH STAMPS

FROM the sale of health stamps last year the sum of £20,000 was raised to enable children to benefit from holidays spent in camps. It is thus that the public perpetuates the memory of His late Majesty King George V. The camps are this country's memorial tributes to him. They are founded from the funds raised for that purpose, and it is by the sale of these health stamps at this present season of each year that the work is carried on and enlarged in scope. There is" a recurring expenditure for the proper maintenance of the camps. This year, owing to t)ie relieving of the demand for military camps—a demand which caused many of the children's health camps to be diverted for war purposesthere will be much* greater opportunity for the young people to spend a few weeks in health-giving change and outdoor life. All but one of the camps will now be available. The health stamp selling campaign for 1944, formally launched by His Excellency the Governor-General Sir Cyril Newall, on Saturday, is now on, and should as m former years, be assured of generous public support.
