ROWING CLUB
PROSPECTS FOR COMING SEASON A meeting of the management committee of the Whakatane. Row,ing Club was held on October 14 when a number of subjects concerning the coming season were dispell ssed. A new departure was the institution of a "Learn to Row Week" to commence on October 12 when instruction in the. art of oarsmanship will be given to all those desirous of taking part in the sport. Regarding the question of letters were received from a number of boat builders and other clubs none, of which however held out any hope of supplies being forthcoming. It was decided to contact the Auckland Rowing Association and enquire whether any could be. procured. It was resolved that, opening day should be on October 29 and that the Tauranga Club should be invited over to take part in the events. On this day ? old members of the club and veteran rowers will take part in a race, for trophies to be donated by Mr Hayward. The crews are at present in the hands, of the selection committee. All prospects seem good for the coming season, and it is anticipated that an even keener interest than formerly will be shown in the sport. Any "intending members are urged to contact the secretary, or get in touch with another member of tlie club at the earliest opportunity.
