LAPWOOD—GOW
On Saturday September IG, Edgecumbe was bright with the man}' friends of the W« B\ Gow family, when Miss Catherine Agnes- Gow, daughter of Mr W. B. Gow and the late Mrs Gow ) was wedded to Mr Henry Robert LapAVood, returned from overseas son of the late Mi and Mrs Arthur LapAVOOd j Tuakau.
Tlie church with its bowls of lillies and peach bloom made an at, tractive setting for the bridal retinue. The bride, who was given away by licr wore a classic-ally-cut trained gown of ivory silk crepe. The embroidered tulle veil I'd! from a coronet of crcam orchids and she carried an exquisite brida 1 bouquet, of cream cyclamen, orchids-, freezias and hyacinths.
Her maids of honour were Mis< Marjorie Goav wearing a long dusky hydrangea blue frock, with flora 1 coronet bouquet of toning cyclamen, freezias and and Miss Lindsay Steele whose frock was of dusky hydrangea pink brocaded with coronet and bouquet of match, ing cyclamen, irises-and freezias. A tiny cousin of the bride o Chris> tine Gow of Cambridge, made f charming flower girl in her long frilly cream frock and head-wreath of pink and blue blossom.
The bridegroom Avas attended by Mr Harold Luke as best man and Mi Leith Rawson as groomsman.
The J. H. Starnes performed the ceremony and the organist Avar Mrs H. S. Holmes, of Opotiki.
At the conclusion of the service, a close friend of the bride's, Mr; Margaret of Auckland., sang "Oh Promise Me."
Mr and Mrs Gow later received their guests at the Edgecumbe HalT Avliere the Ave (Id ing breakfast held. During the reception furthei solos were sung by Mrs Finlayson.
Mrs W. B. Gow wore a smart black and white ensemble, with shoulder spray of blush cyclamen. Mrs J. B. Gow of "Carmyllie," Opotiki grandmother ot the bride, wore black and silver and carried a posy of mauve lupins and anemones.
After the hall reception, the guests were, entertained at "Strath,more" the home of the bride's parents where a happy evening spent viewing the gifts and fare welling the newly weds. The bride travelled in an oatmeal crepe, frock with matching tweed swing coat
and brown accessories
