WAIMANA MEETING GARDENING CIRCLE The September meeting of the Waimana-Nultuhou Women's. InstU tute. gardening circle was held recently at the home of Mrs B. W. Hughes j Waimana. There was a good attendance of members,, and Mrs John Addison presided. " Mrs Cooper read the minutes ol' the pre* vious meeting. A discussion on grafting was held and members decided to try their skill at it. Mrs Mitchell gave an interesting reading on the care of pot plants, and also explained how to keep apples all through the winter in an. earth pit, in the vegetable garden. After tea had been served by the hostessesj Mrs King and Mrs Wool-

field, members spent the remainder of the afternoon in the garden which was very bright with spring flowers. The llower beds and. lawns were in perfect order.

The. results of the day's competitions are as follows:—A miniature garden, on a tray: Mrs G. Mitchell Mrs J. Mitchell 2; Mrs Cooper 3. Best flower: Mrs Woolfield 1; Mrs Mitchell 2; Mrs Hughes 3. Best Vegetable: Mrs Woolfield 1; Mrs Mit-* chell 2; Mrs Hughes 3.

Mrs- Addison thanked Mrs Hughes for her kind hospitality and also thanked the hostesses, and Mrs Hampton who helped with the judging this concluding the, meeting.
