POPULAR FUNCTION

GRAND CATHOLIC DANCE Another Grand Catholic Dance and one of the most, successful events of the dancing season took place on Friday evening in the Caledonian which was gaily decorated for the. occasion with streamers and arum lilies. Horace Waite's orchestra supplied the music and with Mr Jack Bridgman in the roll of M.C. the success of the evening was assured. A delightful home-made supper was served by a committee of ladies and was thoroughly enjoyed by the large crowd present. During the supper interval Mr Horace Waite entertained the gathering with the pianoforte solo "Home Sweet Home" as rendered in other countries. His effort brought forth loud applause. Miss. Sylvia Simms and Mr L. Ball were the winners on both occasions of the novelty dances. Competitions were won by Mrs E l . M. Orr and Mr B. Payne re* spectively.
