WEDDING BELLS

CRUISE—CAULFIELD A pretty wedding of considerable district interest took place in the Presbyterian Church, Whakatane, on Thursday whenZZooe o youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. P. CaulHeld, Otakiri was weeded to Charles third son of Mr and Mrs T. S. i Cruise, of Taneatua. The Rev. H. Hogg performed the ceremony and the wedding music was played by Mrs A. Stewart. The bride who was given away by her father was attired in a becoming frock of pearl satin cut on classical lines and offset by a long graceful veil of tulle, which was gathered to a top-knot of freczias, and fell in soft folds to form a train. Her close-fitting bodice gave way to a heart-shaped whilst the sleeves, were long and pointed over the wrists. White stockings and gloves completed her ensemble and she carried a slicaf '9 of arum lilies. Misses Grace Werner and Lesley White attended as bridesmaids, and were I'rocked in coral pink taffeta, cut on Greecian lines, with short sleeves. Short head-veils were worn, and their bouquets consisted of anemonics, stock and fern. Messrs Doug. Shepherd and Robert Caulfied attended as best man and groomsman respectively. A large crowd of friends and relatives attended. Seventy guests attended the. breakfast which was held in the upper lounge of the Whakatane Hotel where Mrs: Caulfield received her guests in a smart frock of blue silk with toning accessories. She carried a bouquet of spring blooms. Mrs the bridegroom's mother wore Steele grey with accessories to tone and carried a posy of African daisies^ The Rev. Hogg made an excellent toastmaster and in proposing the toast to the young couple imparted much homely advice and generally kept the company in high good humour. The toast list was as under: 'The Loyal Toast' Rev. Hogg; 'The Bride and Groom' Rev. Hogg and the bridegroom; 'The Bridesmaids' the bridegroom and the best man; 'The Bride's Parents' Mr Leslie and Mr Caulfield; 'The Bridegroom's Parents' Mr Fleming and Mr Cruise Snr. The gathering broke up with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.. Mr and Mrs Cruise Jnr. left later on their honeymoon the bride's travelling costume being of. powder blue with accessories to tone and l'ur coat. On their return they will make their future home at Otakiri.
