Accident on Bicycle An accident occurred on Monday at the corner of Stewart and King Street when Mrs. Ferguson, of Stewart Street who was riding a bicyclc was hit by a car. She was admitted to the Whakatane Hospital where she is. reported to be progressing satisfactorily.

Beach Club for Airmen Royal New Zealand Air Force personnel in the Pacific are to have, a rest, and recreation beach club at Guadalcanal where in rotation they will be able to enjoy a spell of a few days at a time from the de* mands made upon them by service conditions. Certain camp buildings on the island will be used to create the rest centre, which will be furnished and supplied with extra sports equipment, and other amenities by the National Patriotic Fund Board. The necessary staff will be drawn from Air Force Qnd it is hoped to provide accommodation for about 75 men at a time.

Powerful Water. It is reported that recently, a car load of people returning home from •Whakatane were forced to stop on the roadway with an empty radiator. A search for water was carried out } the radiator filled, and the party proceeded. Some small distance had been covered when the auto once more chugged to a standstill.
