GIFT EVENING

FUNCTION AT OTAKIRI At. the Otakiri Hall on. ■September 2 an evening was given to Miss Veronica Mull Ins and Miss Georginia (Zoe) Caulfield in honour of their approaching marriage. The opportunity was also taken to make a presentation to Mrs O'Brian (nee Mary Swan) who was married earlier In the year. Mr Lord as; M.G. kept the dances in merry mood music being supplied by Mrs assisted by Miss Mikklesen and Mir -S. Pearce. After a delicious supper Mr Barton in a few well-chosen words., presented each guest, with a substantial cash gift and wished them every happinesss in their new life, in returning thanks Mr G. Cruze (returned from overseas) spoke on behalf, of Zoe, and. Mr R. Hawluns (also returned) spoke on behalf of Veronica. Mr O'Brian briefly thanks •ed the residents of Otakiri on behalf of his wife. "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" was sung in rousing style and the cheers which followed were equally lusty. Dancing continued till midnight when Auld Lang Syne brought a "Very enjoyable evening to a close.
