SUBSCRIPTIONS STILL SLOW
LATEST FIGURES
Up till last week-end the Whakatane district, had foumd the sum of towards the total quota of £r09 y BO4 of the Victory Loan. The general impression is that subscriptions on the whole are slow and there remains only the prospec)t of a general speeding up, at the final stages of the to give any promise of achieving anything like the result which has been allocated. In passing it is worth noting that Whakatane is included ia the Bay of Plenty-Thames Valley area which is lowest on the Dominion for comparative, percentages in loan response. The laJtest figures for the district are made up as follows:— Whakatane: Bonds £1174; Nar tional Savings £1789..5t0ck: £12,860. Total £15^823. Matata: National Savings £105; Stock: £150. Total £255.
