War Bookmakers
London bookmakers are offering odds of 100 to 15 that the European war won't be over by October 31. Thousands of people. are having their little bets, and the odds will shorten, says the Sydney Sun. Lloyd's are giving much the same insurance 'odds for any business which might be offset by a sudden ending of the, war. "There seems to be a general opinion that the war will be over in less than three months," says'- Lloyd's broker. A Stockholm message says 75' per cent of German diplomats and high officials predict a German collapse within two months, but this, will not bring an armistice because the Nazis will go on fighting a guerilla war.
