LETTER OF APPRECIATION
NAVY LEAGUE THANKED
The usefulness of the "blue bags" supplied by the Navy League is dc-» scribed in a letter received by the New Zealand Navy League War Council from a man in the R.N:Z«V.R. The "blue bags" were issued to tjic men in Wellington, and the writer describes how the}' were used as. pillows on the journey from Wellington to Auckland. On their ship in the Pacific," he writes, they were in cold weather for a long time and constantly wore some of the contents of the blue bags—polo-necked sweaters mits balaclavas and heavv socks. The hussifs Avere greatly used. "Safety pins and string Avere at a premium and Avere restored carefully to the hussiif after being used for hanging out our Avashing," he continues. Later, the men were in the Atlantic, where, although it. Avas summer, it was bitterly cold, and the woollen comforts were greatly appreciated. The writer asks that the thanks of his comrades and himself be expressed to all th» women avlio arc' Avorking for the, Navy League.
