WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB

The, draw as published in last week's issue of the Beacon will he adhered to this week-end. Inter-club Visit A team from the Waimana Club consisting of nine ladies and 18 men visited the Whakatane, Club on Sunday, August 13. Friendly matches were played in the afternoon, the games being on handicap plus a bisque for each of the, visitors. In a stable.f.or.d bogey s:weep was played. The results of the matches were lost in oblivion but the stableford results were as fol-. lows: T. Wardlaw (11) 28; C. Bujrkc | (1G) 25; Angus (17) 17; Stevenson 1 (26) 15; W. Wardlaw (26) 15; Tipping (2C) 13; Sax (26) 8. Local Stableford Bogey: Connell (9) 33; Denham (24) 32; Corbctt (23) 28; Patience (24) 22. In a speech at the end of the Mr Ducker President of the Waimana Club f thanked the local club for the invitation to play an interclub match. It Avas just. like, old times to have an opportunity of paying visits to sister clubs and meeting old friends again. They had all enjoyed themselves immensely and appreciated the invitation very much. On behalf of the Waimana Club, he would extend a cordial inh vitation to the local club to return the visit in the, near future. Mr Luxton, President of the Whakatane Club, replied in his usual jovial manner and thanked the Waimana Club for the invitation. He also thanked the ladies for dispensing morning and afternoon tea, which the visitors and local players alike all enjoyed. After an exchange of cheers and good wishes the visit came to a very happy conclusion.

Likely Opotiki Visit

Weather permitting several members of the Opotiki Club will pay a visit to the local links next Sunday. A team from the local club will be chosen to play with them in the afternoon.
