MEETING AT AWAKERI
STRONG SUPPORT GWEN
A fair number of dairy farmers and sharemilkers attended a meeting '.'n the Awakeri Hall on August 10th to listen to an address by Mr Eric Hell on the aims and organisation of the Dairy Producers Association. Mr H. E. Mi-ssen was elected chairman and in a few Avell chosen words, outlined some of the work done by the. D.P.A.
Mr Bell outlined the start and the growth of the D.P.A. and stressed the fact that ever sinee its inception the Association had always worked for a larger Farmers' Union or Farmers' Federation. He, also gave an outline of the agreement that was reached at the conference held in Wellington on July 20 between the, Sheepowners' Federation and the Farmers' Union where it was agreed to set n np a united organisation of Primary Producers, to be known as the United Farmers' Federation of N.Z.
After a full discussion the following resolution was carried, unanimously: "That those present join the Dairy Producers Association and at the meeting to be called by the Factory Directors of all to hear the results of the recent Dairy Conference regarding the four years contract with Britain that a vote be taken —that all dairy farmers join the D.P.A." Mr Luke moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Bell for his address, and a hearty vote of thanks to the chair ? brought the meeting to a close.
