P.N. CORNER

Well well ma hearties. \ou Palmcrston North sailors certainly arc good correspondents. I received such a pile, of mail from your city that it took me practically all night and half the next day to open and read it all. It was a bit unfortunate there only being one paper and consequently only one picture Avasn t it. Peter lias coloured it very well indeed but as 1 think it is hardly fair to award him the prize when all you others did not even have a chahce for it I will miss that competition and award prizes lor the points of the compass one only. The winners of this ! think were Pctci Joncs ? Trevor Downing and Lyncttc Hall.' Congratulations you three. You may have to wait till after the school holidays to collect your prizes but they will be there for you. Now for your letters. I was very sorry indeed that I could not get near enough to a wireless (mine is getting new valves put in, it makes the queerest noises just now) to hear you perform over the air but perhaps I will next time. Glad to hear you have a pen friend Judy. From the sound of things your party was a lot of fun. I was quite tickled by the drawing you sent me. I have tacked it up in my art gallery well out of reach of Butinsky. Glad to hear you beat Hokowhitu School Peter. I am sure you must have been overjoyed at winning. 1 hope you did well at your spelling exam Trevor. I was never much good at spelling myself although it Avas not altogether necessary in my sailing days. Although your offer to send me some milk is very thoughtful Don 1/ am afraid, as you say that -it might go sour on the way up. I am glad to hear you are. a box of birds, a tin of worms and a ball or string. It certainly must be nice to be all that healthy. Little sisters are a trial to one aren't they John. Nevertheless one must just, put up with them 'as. they are bound to grow up and get better later on. Well I must leave you now and get on with the rest of the page. Cheerio for tlus. week. P.T. W. )
