SOLDIERS' ALLOTMENTS
SOCIAL SECURITY REDUCTIONS $ MR W. SULLIVAN'S QUERY The 1 question of soldiers' allotments in relation to Social Security charges was raised by Mr W. Sullivan, National M.P. for Bay of Plenty in notice, of a question addressed to the Minister in charge of Social Security in the House of Represcnta-» tives. Mr Sullivan asked that where a son on overseas, service made an allotment to liis widowed mother, who was a beneficiary under the Social Security Act, his mother be not deprived of her benefits to the extent of her son'is allotment. A case could be' quoted where such a beneficiary and widow had had her benefits, reduced to 2s a day or £36 8s a year. Thus the son on service was indirectly ealled upon to make a contribution of £3(5 8s a year to the Social Security Account.
