Dubious reference to the 'press* by the proposer of the toast, Mr Jack Leather at the Waimana Welcome Home, caused many a hearty laugh but when the speaker urged the gathering to think their own thoughts with regard toi the journal' istic profession, as lie personally could not recall anything good about them, there was a roar of delight. The journalists present had a further baptism of spleen when one of the entertainers (wc think lie came from Opotiki) quoted the following epitaph allegedly read on an innocent tombstone in England (note the distance away:— Here lies a Printer And lie lie will. Although he dead He's lying still.
