Extortion

Mr J. L. Burnett in proposing the toast to the 'Ladies' at the successful Waimana Welcome Home function last week, said: "There are. two things which we in Waimana are very proud of, one is our climate and the other our beautiful ladies. If. it had not been for our ladies it would not have been possible for us to hold our present function. They have worked wonders and in the process. of the Patriotic Campaign, have literally extorted hundreds of pounds from the pockets of our men." He went on to say that although there was still 60 per cent still outstanding of the County quota, Waimana met its quota fully and was amongst the first to do so.
