THE "GOOD ENDEAVOUR" LEAGUE

What ho, what ho. ma hearties. Well we've certainly been having a snappy .spell of cold weather liavcu't wo. My nose has gone quite | blue with the cold and Butinskv's lias turned almost red. Of course. Pcterkin can't feel the cold in his nose so he enjoys the frosty weather. Nevertheless, we are all looking forward to the. summer when the long warm days and bright cheery mornings Avill be with us again. I' am in rather a fiix at the moment. The other day I came in and there was Butinsky chewing away quite happily at a piece of paper. I didn't talce much notice of him at the time but. a few minutes later I took another look at him. I thought the piece of paper looked familiar and sure enough it was. I suddenly recognised it as my whole sheaf of meat coupons. You can imagine my dismay. I' snatched them up as fast as possible but they were almost unrecognisable. I don't know what I am going to say to the butcher when I see hyn next time. It' looks as if II will have to live on fiisli for quite a while. And that reminds me, now that I have no more meat coupons left worth speaking of I had better batten my hatches and get on with the vest of the page so that I will have time to gO' and catch some fish for tea.
