COMMUNIST PARTY AND RELIGION

Sir,—lt is most disturbing to find that during the week His Gracious Majesty called our nation to Prayer, the official organ of the Communist Party of N.Z., the "People's Voice" makes the following statement under the headlines "Communist Attitude towards Regilion." "This does not mean however that Communist theory is neutral'on the religious question. Communist philosophy is based oh a materialistic conception of the universe;—lt is if you like— atheistic in its outlook." Mr Editor that settles for all time the arguments that there is such a thing as a Christian Communist or that anyone can be a member of at Christian organisation and belong to the Communist Party. This state-" ment should be. broadcast so that all may know exactly the gulf that separates them from the ideals of our Empire as set out by His Majesty in his stirring call to< his people. Yours etc.. . BRITISHER.
