Burstall, Grey and Symmans in- ' fringed by playing on to the 18th green prior to starting off and consequently suffered disqualification. Owing to the stress of war, and the. petrol restrictions, thus pre-r venting players from travelling to and from the links for practise at any time, the Match Committee modifies this rule locally for ordinary stroke and bogey competitions, but where the stroke competition is for qualifying for any major or cup event, then Rule 411 was to be ( observed and enforced. Anderson and' Wright displace Cradwick and Denham, the former pair leading thelatter by an extra win on bogey on the. home run, to put them a nose in front. The new order is: Anderson and Wright; Cradwick and Den-, ham; Morpeth and Spring all 1 up.
