INSTITUTE ACTIVITIES JULY MEETING HELD The July meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuliou Women's .Institute was held in the Waimana Hall last Wednesday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members, Mrs Wool field presiding in the absence of the. president. Mrs Wylde. The meeting opened Avith the singing of the Institute song, after which Mrs AVnolfield read an apology from the president. TTic secretary A\as instructed to aa rite to Mrs Wylde wishing her a speedy recovery. The Institute birthday is to be held in August and Sister Institutes will be invited. Tli-e celebration is to take the form of a social afternoon. It was decided to hold a bring and buy stall at the September meeting to raise funds to help defray the Drama Circle's expenses, Avhilst a sales tabic is being held for Patriotic funds for the talent competition at the August meeting. Miss Woolficld read an airgraph from the Women's Institute, link in England, which was of great interest. Letters also Averc read from local men in Italy, thanking the Institute for cakes and parcels received. The roll call was, A donation of one egg, two dozen being collected which Avere to he taken to the hospital to Waimana

patients there. A much enjoyed humorous sketch was acted by Mrs Stansbury and Mrs D. Boynton. The sketch was entitled "Husbands For Sale," and was written by Mrs Stansbury. The players received a great, ovation at the conclusion oC the sketch. Mrs Wool Held then asked Mrs Luttrell, a member who has lost her home by fire, lo accept parcels of articles from members to help to start her home again. The afternoon being rather chilly, all members joined in a lucky "Chain Waltz" Mrs Hewitt being the winner. Mrs D. Bull was the winner of a ball game, arranged by Mrs Wool Field. The judges for the afternoon were Mrs F. Savage, and Mrs Luttrell. The day's competitions were:— Face cloth made from old material: Mrs Hewitt 1; Mrs F. Bell ''i; Mrs WooMcld 3. Mould of brawn; Mrs Hewitt 1: Mrs F. Bell 2. Best double flower: Mrs Stevenson 1; 'Mrs F. Bell 2; Miss Woollield 3. Best single flower: Mrs W. Addison 1; Mrs F. Bell 2; Mrs King 3. Bese vegetable: A greatly enjoyed afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, the pre- ' sident thanking them and the. judges. The National Anthem closed the meeting.
