GRANTING OF LEAVE
NEW SCALE ANNOUNCED MEN ON FURLOUGH The approval of the War Cabinet of a new scale in granting leave or furlough to Army personnel on their return to New Zealand after service overseas is announced lay the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones. Two days' leave on full pay and allowances will be granted for each month of service beyond New Zealand,, -with a minimum of 28 days and a maximum of 91 days. The Minister said it Avas. necessary for personnel returning from the Pacific for direction to essential industry to take up work without undue delay. These men were being granted only 28 days on their return, and anj- balance of leave due under the fixed scale would be granted at a later date, or pay and allowances for this period would lie paid in lieu of leave when the pay accounts were finalised. The new scheme is effective as from April 19 last.
