LAST WEEK'S COMPETITION

Well T certainly didn't receive many answers to tins competition. Perhaps it was too hard for you. ■ The Englishman in question was not Sir George Grey as many of you thought, but David Livingstone, missionary and explorer. Livingstone was born in 1813 of poor parents I and began work at the age of ten ; in a cotton factory- His thirst for knowledge, however, caused him to ■ attend night classes and after qualifying as, a doctor, set sail for Africa as a missionary. He worked all his life in Africa as such, and also led many geographical expeditions. At one stage he joined Avith Stanley, who had been sent by the. New York Herald to find him, in several expeditions. He died on May Ist in : Rhodesia and his body was taken to ; England by a British cruiser and buried in Westminster Abbey. ; lam afraid I can only award one free ticket this week, ard this goes to Zoo Symnions. : Congratulations. Call and collect your ticket at the Beacon Office.
