RUGBY PROSPECTS IMPROVE

INITIAL games in the new Rugby season seem to indicate the development of an improved standard on last year's performances. The Whakatane Union, is definitely better organised than in the past, and the juniors in particular can always be expected to give a good account of themselves in the club matches which have so far been played. On the Plains, the Rangitaiki Union, has improved in standard and numbers, and the teams entered make it possible to stage an interesting round of competitional play. The district will be looking forward to some keenly contested finals and inter-union matches reminiscent of the good old pre-war days.
