WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

TANEATUA MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Taneatua Women's Institute was held in the Taneatua I-lall on Tuesday, June 13, Mrs Gardner presiding over a fair attendance. Apologies were received from two members;, and one new member was elected. The utes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. It was decided to hold a Sales Table at the next meeting, and after a discussion on presents to resigning members, the question was put to the vote, and resulted in the matter being left in the hands of the committee. Mrs Gardner and Mr.s Moore were electcd as delegates to the forthcoming meeting re the holding of a Drama Festival. Mrs Gra5 r then gave an interesting talk in the Golden Thread series her subject being Napier. The Roll Call, "Songs and their Memories," brought forward some very amusing replies. Mrs Reid gave an interesting and instructive dc~ monstration of smocking. The entertainment for the afternoon consisted of a pianoforte duct, "The Charge of the Light Brigade," capably rendered by Mesclames Grey find Gardner. Results of competitions were: A. Balaclava for Merchant Navy: Mrs Merric 1; Mrs Moore 2. B, Grabapple jelly: Mrs Grey 1; Mrs Logan 2. G, Best flower: Miss Hills 1; Mrs Grey 2. After a delicious afternoon tea, served by the hostesses, Mrs Marsden, Mrs Bennett and Mrs, Storey, the mectixlg closed with the National Anthem.
