VALUABLE SERVICE

CARE OF ELECTRIC RANGES Users of electric ranges have become so used to the free servicing of their ranges that few people realise the value, of such a system. A.s the cost of repairs is a chargc on the board, the service in effect, is a form of co-operat-ivc insurance by consumers. No. matter how extensive the repairs may be, the user of electric ranges is saved the worry of finding the costs of repairs at what is often a very inconvenient) time. The. report presented by Mr J. D. Dicker at the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Electric Power Board shows that during the past year there were 1060 range faults. This cost the board £1007 or 19/per range fault, or £1 Is 3d per installed range. The. figures for the previous year were 19s lid per range fault and £1 0s 7d per installed range. As some of the repair jobs are quite extensive and would cost in such cases several pounds, consumers may count themselves fortunate that such a splendid scheme was inaugurated by the board and it is tq be hoped such a convenient method of servicing will be continued by the board indefinitely. Considering that many of the ranges in service have been in constant use for nearly 20 years, the total cost per year for repairs appears to be exceedingly low.
