Recent Fire Alarm Ih our report of the recent fire alarm, in which it was related that the Brigade broke open two doors in the offices of. Messrs Prideaux and Bridger's in order to effect an entry, we have since been informed that the doors mentioned had been forced before the Brigade's arrival, apparently by some well-meaning person in the vicinity. The Superintendent, however desires to make it clear that no members of his organisation were responsible. Assisting" the Mothers In connection with the lecture tour of M.rs Smith, under the auspices of the Auckland University Adult Education scheme, which commences in this district next week, we learn that the districts of Edgecumbe and Awakcri have completed arrangements to run a 'creche' in connection with the. lectures in that area in order that mothers who have young families may jttend without the worry and inconvenience of looking after their children. It is, hoped that this example will be followed by other districts. As far as can be gathered all organisation is now completed in connection with the visit and everything points to a fitable and enjoyable circuit.
