FAREWELL EVENING
MISS BLANCHE WALLACE HONOURED A highly entertaining evening was spent on Thursday night when the staff of the Road Services gathered to farewell Miss Blanche Wallace at the home of Mr and Mrs R. H. Larmer, Hillcrest. Music during the evening was supplied by Mr H. Waite, piano, and Mrs Larmer, violin, both musicians delighting the guests with every type of music, from Strauss Waltzes to the modern Boogie-Woogie of to-day. During the evening, Mr W. Hooper thanked Miss Wallace on behalf of the staff, for her co-operation during the three years she worked there, and wished her luck in her new .position. Mr S. Welhani then presented the guest of the evening with a beautiful grey travelling bag, together with his best wishes for the future. Miss Wallace thanked the staff for their good wishes and kind remarks, and said that she. would not mind leaving so much if the staff" would go with her. Mr E. Hughes then welcomed the new member oif the s&ff, Miss Phyllis Moore, who has been transferred from the Tane** atua Railway Station to take Mfcjx Wallace's place, and said that as heknew Miss Moore's capabilities, he was sure the work would be carried on in a most able manner. Among those present were: Mrs Athol Wallace, Mr and Mrs S. Weiham, Mr and Mrs E. Hughes, Mr W. Hooper and Miss P.eggy Hooper, Mr and Mrs Ray Hunter, Mr Lieth Rawson, Miss Avis Laloli, Miss Hilda Campbell, Miss Phyllis Moore, M.r D. Kahui and Mr George Lee. The evening ended with the heartfelt singing of "Auld Lang Syne,"
