MINISTER'S VISIT
HON. R. SEMPLE'S TOUR WEDNESDAY'S FULL PROGRAMME The visit of the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Works, to this district takes place on Wednesday next when we learn from Mr W. Sullivan that he plans a very full and active day. Arriving here from Gpotiki the evening before the Ministerial party together with P'.W.D. officials will proceed first thing on Wednesday morning to make an immediate inspection of the Whakatane river erosion, and the Ruatoki bridge. At 10.30, he will meet Borough and County delegates at the County Council Chambers. Delegations will afeo include groups representing the Poroporo settlers and residents of Edgecumr be and others. After lunch, the Minister will proceed' to certain points on the plains where he will inspect the flood damage, and then to Murupara at about 5 p.m., by the Bluff Road. HON. H. G R. MASON ARRHVES TO-DAY Word has been received that the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, Attorney General, will be arriving in Whakatane this afternoon and will spend the night here.
