GYMNASIUM DANCE
SUCCESSFUL EVENING AT AWAKERI An excellent crowd proved the popularity of the gymnasium dance held at Awakeri on Tuesday evening where the dancing enthusiast of the district gathered for an evening's entertainment. The hall had been beautifully decorated previously by the young ladies, and supplied just the right atmosphere of festivity necessary to the success of such an occasion. With a newly formed orchestra giving out the rhythm, and dancing under the control of Mr Bill Howat, things went with a swing from start to finish with never a dull moment. A Monte Carlo was won by Mr E. Francis and Mrs T. Bell. Competition winners were as under: Goose, Miss Ngaire Elliot; Muscovy Drake, Miss, Lna Mac Donald; 200 Cigarettes, Mr F. Pepperall; Wristlet Watch, Miss Agnes Mclntyre. The funds gained from the dance will go to help the newly formed Awakeri Gym Club which will have its opening night on June 27. •
