PATRIOTIC DANCE

The monthly dance organised by the Otakiri Patriotic Committee was held in the hall oil. Thursday, May 4. The floor was Avell filled with happy dancers, the Gaiety Boys Orchestra providing excellent music, extras being played by Mr Scragg, piano. Mr Lord acted as M.C. and during the evening novelty dances Avere Avon as follows: Monte Carlos, Miss N. Jensen and Mr Wollett and Miss M. Woodberry and Fte. D. Sheppcrd.

After the supper interval, opportunity was taken to welcome home Gunner H. Wally, who is home on furlough. Mr Murray welcomed him on behalf of the people of the district. Presentations were made to him by Mrs Armstrong who, on behalf of the ladies of - the district,, asked him to accept a Avarm knitted pullover, and Mr Kedgeley, chairman of the Farewell and Welcome Home. Committee, briefly welcomed him and asked him to acccpt a small presentation with, best wishes from the residents of Otakiri. Musical honours were, accorded 'the guest of the evening, after which dancing continued to a late hour. A happy evening was brought to a close. Avith the singing of the National Anthem. Competitions. Avon during the evening were: Dinner, Miss Dawn Armstrong; Iced cake, Mr Wallace.
