MEETING AT TANEATUA ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of the Wo-* men's Division of the Farmers' Union, Taneatua, was held in the hall supper room on Tuesday, April 18, Mrs Prince (president) presiding over a good attendance of members'. Notice of the provincial meeting to be held on May 3 was received. Mrs Hill and Mrs Marsden were delegatjed from this branch to attend the meeting. Mrs Prince told members of the coming visit of Mrs Joll, advisory board member, and it was proposed that a special meeting be held on Friday, May 5 at 2 p.m. to enable members and any interested to be. present to hear Mrs Joll speak on the work of the division. Mrs Grey asked members to take Merchant Navy wool to knit into comforts for the men, explaining that, the Merchant Navy was the division's special interest and more knitters would be welcomed. Mr§ Prince read her report for the year. This was seconded by Mrs Hill who congratulated the president on the very full account she had given of tlie division's activities for the year. The secretary read the balance sheet and moved its adoption. Mrs Grace seconding same and on. behalf of the members presented the president, and secretary with a spray each as a token of appreciation for the work they had done during the year. The recipients suitably replied. Mfs Grace read the report of the sales table, seconded by Mrs Grey. Mrs Mitchell gave an account of the housekeeping work of the division in this district for the year. Election of Officers The election of officers for the year resulted as 'follows:— President: Mrs Prince. Vice-presidents: Mrs Yeoman Snr. and Mrs Anderson. Housekeping Secretary: Mrs Mitchell. Sales Table: Mrs Grace. Secretary: Mrs Bennett. Prizes for the year, were won as follows: Attendance prizes, Mrs Prince and Mrs Tocker. Entries prize, Mrs Bennett. Points prize, Mrs Hill 1; Mrs Anderson 2; Mrs Bennett 3. Double flower prize,. Mrs Grey. Single flower prize, Mrs Grey. Shrub, Mrs Hill. Competitions for April were won as follows: Six best apples, Mrs Tocker 1; Mrs Bennett 2; Mrs Hill 3. Preserved peaches Mrs. Hill 1; Mrs Grey 2; Mrs Mitchell 3. Single flower, Mrs Hill 1; Mrs Grey 2; Mr,3 Prince 3. Double flower, Mrs Mit- , che.ll 1; Mrs Grey 2; Mrs Marsden 3. Shrub, Mrs Grey 1; Mrs Hill 2; Mrs Storey 3. Mrs Prince thanked Mrs Ricketfr who had judged the flowers and preserves and Mr Fox who had judged the apples. Afternoon tea was served by the committee. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
