ONE MONTH'S IMPRISONMENT LOCAL MAN SENTENCED Failure to comply with his promise to make up £38 lOsi 6d maintenance arrears due. Wis wife and child led to Leonard Thompson being sentenced to one month's imprisonment in the Whakatane Magistrate's Court last Tuesday. The defendant at the March sitting of the court had undertaken to meet the order to the full by the 20th but according to the Clerk of Court he had not made any attempt to meet his responsibilities in any respect.

Proceedings by the Maintenance Officer (Whangarei) were also instituted against Charles Wells for disobedience of an order to the extent of £18 lis 6d.
