MANY THANKS

THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY AMERICAN NURSE'S PRAISE One of the American Army Nurses who were with the party of U.S. servicemen at the Awakeri Sports last Saturday gave a particularly interesting and popular talk to the assembled public by way of returning thanks for the kindness and hospitality shown their party during their visit to the district. "I have recently come from Iceland, " she said, "and it may surprise you good folk in this beautiful country to; learn that the people there are very like yourselves. The girls are very pretty and dress well. The countryside is green and very like this. In the summer beautiful wild flowers bloom in the hills and the whole, place is very lovely." She went on to say that Americans generally warmly appreciated the friendliness of the New Zealanders and would take back to their own country many wonderful tales of the life and 'kindliness of the people of this Dominion.
