HOUSEHOLDERS MEETING
new school committee ELECTED i The biennial meeting of the s Householders was held at the school ; Whakatane, on Wednesday, March 12, for the purpose of electing a new I school committee. The chairman, : Mr F. W. Lysaght, presided. The new committee, consisting of 1 the Rev. J. C. J. Wilson, and Messrs J. W. Wilson, D. Paterson, W. Whitaker, C. W. Good, W .E. Armstrong, L. R. Spring, G. H. Dainton and J. H. B. Warner was elected before any further business was attended to. The chairman in his report, dealt fully with the work of the committee during the past two years, mentioning particularly the improvements made .to the grounds, whilst the question of the inadequacy of j the present buildings was fully discussed. It was hoped that the representation made by the committee to the Education Board some time ago will soon result in the provision of five new class rooms. Reports from the teachers engaged in specialty subjects such as cooking and woodwork, dealing with the work and progress made in their departments were also read. In conclusion, the headmaster, Mr 1. B. Hubbard, thanked the retiring chairman and members of the committee for their valuable work on behalf of the school. At a subsequent meeting of the newly elected school committee, Mr J. H. B. Warner was elected chair-> man.
